Attendance
Attendance is not required for this course but highly encouraged. A recent PNAS study shows that "being actively engaged in the classroom" is a significant predictor of actual learning.
Tutoring
The Division of Academic Enhancement (DAE) offers free peer tutoring for this class. To engage with a Peer Tutor, download the Penji app, available on iOS and Android, and sign in through SSO using your MyID. Visit their website for more information on how to engage with a Peer Tutor or email them at tutor@uga.edu. In addition to peer tutoring, the DAE also provides Academic Coaching, Student Success Workshops and more. The DAE is committed to the success of all students at the University of Georgia. Academic Honesty
As a University of Georgia student, you have agreed to abide by the University's academic honesty policy, "A Culture of Honesty, " and the Student Honor Code. All academic work must meet the standards described in "A Culture of Honesty." Lack of knowledge of the academic honesty policy is not a reasonable explanation for a violation. Questions related to course assignments and the academic honesty policy should be directed to the instructor.
Team Work
In this course, you will work in groups. It occasionally happens that someone in a team is not prepared to do his/her share. In my courses, I recommend that the team give the freeloader one warning and then fire that person. That person will then do group assignments individually or find a new team to join. The instructor should be notified of changes in team composition immediately. All teams should have about 3-5 members.
Special Accomodations
For special accommodations, especially for quizzes, exams, or assignments, inform the instructor ahead of time (at least 48 hours a priori).
Re-grading Exercises, Quizzes, Exams, or Projects
Students should contact the instructor within a week after grading to review exercises, quizzes, exams, or projects if they have questions. Reviews can be done during office hours or by appointment.
